Safeguarding & Complaints
Every concern should be heard, recorded and handled responsibly.
KSS is committed to the safety, dignity and wellbeing of learners, families, staff and visitors. Concerns should be raised promptly so they can be directed, recorded and reviewed appropriately.
Our commitment
- Treat every learner with dignity
- Prevent humiliation, threats, physical punishment and unsafe isolation
- Use the least intrusive safe response
- Record and escalate safeguarding concerns
- Communicate material incidents to the appropriate family contact
- Protect a person who raises a genuine concern from retaliation
Responsibilities of adults
Adults working with or visiting learners should maintain appropriate boundaries, follow visitor and photography rules, report concerning conduct and avoid sharing learner information outside an authorised purpose.
Behaviour support and physical assistance
Support should be informed by communication, function and context. Any physical assistance must follow approved training, a clear safety purpose, proportionate practice, documentation and family communication where required. It must never be punishment.
If an injury or incident occurs
- Make the learner safe
- Provide first aid or emergency support
- Notify the responsible leader
- Record what happened and the response
- Inform the parent or guardian as appropriate
- Review what can reduce recurrence

If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service. For a KSS concern, contact the school and clearly state that the matter involves safety or safeguarding so it can be directed and recorded appropriately.
